The Power in the Blood
There is wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb of God, power to take away the sins of the world. Jesus sat down with his 12 apostles to eat his final meal before going to the cross and as they dined together he told them that one of them would soon betray him. Jesus took the bread and the wine and asked God to bless it. He broke the bread into pieces and gave it to his disciples. He holds up the cup and begins to explain that his blood is the New Covenant and that his blood is sufficient. So for 4000 years, the blood of goats and bulls cannot cover sins but HIS blood is sufficient. So basically he comes not to destroy the law of using blood for forgiveness but he comes to fulfill that law by using his own blood. That He in one selfless loving act would do what no other sacrifice had been able to do. Jesus created a blood covenant that if anyone would trust in the power of this blood; they would receive redemption, atonement, healing, protection, deliverance, strength, and transformation.
Now what does the word redeem mean? It is to save someone and deliver them from sin and evil. In Jesus Christ, we have redemption through his blood. We have the forgiveness of sins. Each member of the church is redeemed by Christ’s blood. How is it possible that the blood of Jesus Christ has such power to redeem and cleanse us from all sin? This is possible because of who Jesus is and what he did when He died on the Cross. First, Jesus was, is and always will be, absolutely sinless in thought word and deed. Secondly, Jesus was, is, and always will be the Lord of Lords. By Him all things created and by him all things consist. That is why he can take away the sin of the world and that leads to redemption. We have forgiveness or we were saved because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. So the blood of Jesus has freed us from the curse of sin and death.
The Blood of Jesus can transform one’s sinful nature into the desire for the holiness of God. Jesus says in Isaiah 1:18 that though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. As an example of this let us look at the thief on the cross who had an encounter with the power of the blood of Jesus. He was transformed from that of a condemned man into a saint dwelling in paradise. Let us look at Saul a murderer that tried to destroy the church of the living God. He had an encounter with the power of that blood and was forever transformed into “Paul, an apostle of Christ” So you can see there are so many examples similar to these in the bible.
Blood is our source of life; without it coursing through our veins, life will cease in this physical body. You cannot survive without blood. Revelation 21:8 but the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. But with the blood of Jesus applied to our spirit and souls, the children of God are given the gift of life. Jesus came so that we may have life and can have it in abundance.
Whenever a virus attacks our physical body and begins to make us sick, our blood begins to fight with all that it has attacking this virus with white blood cells. Similarly, when the enemy of your soul rises up against you, the blood of our Lord and Savior covers us like a shield. Why? Because there is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb. When your body suffers an injury, a cut, your blood does this wonderful thing to protect you from infection it forms a scab. Many times in this life we live we suffer from different kind of attacks upon our spirit. For example, a word that was said that cuts like a knife into the heart. This is when the blood of Jesus wraps around our Spirit and Soul to protect and bring healing to the hurts of our lives. The wound may be tinder for a while and may leave a scare but the blood of Jesus is always at work in the middle of the hurts of our life bring protection and healing.
Lastly, His Blood is still powerful today. His Blood is still saving sinners, setting captive free today, therefore His Blood is always sufficient.
